Artist Statement

Jade Boswell is a curious, self taught artist driven by the need to indulge her creativity whilst also keeping balance at the centre of a life that doesn't seem to ever slow down on its own.

Coming back to art as an adult felt like a real homecoming. Making space for herself again to play and explore is how she started to find some balance. She rushes less now, and notices the everyday magic she used to walk straight past. Jade wants a future where owning original art isn't something you need permission for, and where the paintings people live with mean something to them. Her aim is to help people slow down long enough to feel something, because that's what painting gave back to her.

Her work always starts with the same impulse: holding onto something that would otherwise pass without pause and is then built up slowly in layers for each piece to settle into its own feeling rather than a fixed destination. Working predominantly with acrylics, Jade creates layered, gently textured semi abstract work that is rooted in the emotional weight of place (sometimes real, sometimes imagined), all the while playing with time, light and feelings.

Jade is based on the Essex/Cambridgeshire border and has been exhibiting across Cambridge and London since 2025.
